Panel – Data
The name and id of the DSD and data group associated with the specified panel are shown here for information.
Fields to be included
Drag and drop fields from Show to Hide or Exclude, to adjust panel content and change the order. Move multiple fields with the check boxes and clicking on the “move” button to the desired category.
Show fields are included in the panel automatically. Hide fields are available for the user to include (if permitted under the User Options) but not shown automatically. Exclude fields are not included in the panel and may not be added by the user.
Field Attributes
Edit individual fields’ attributes. Select the field to edit, then:
Label Heading | Change the name of the field/column heading. |
Set Column Width | Check the box to change the column width, either with the slider or numerically. The width will be limited by the overall width of the panel. Some browsers will override this setting if considered to not fit properly. |
Display as Image | If the content of this field (in the original data source) is a valid file path which points to an image file the image itself will be displayed in the presentation. |
Highlight Value | Apply highlight formats (see Highlighters) to any field which contains the matching condition. |
Add a details panel
A data group which contains many data fields can be split across two or more panels. The contents of the second panel (the “reactive” panel) are displayed by clicking on a record in the first panel (the “active” panel).
When creating a details panel, the “reactive” panel is added and is given a name, for example PanelName2 and the Panel Editor is now managing the new panel PanelName2.
Use the Fields to be included button to specify the fields to be shown in each panel. Both/all panels are using the same data group and so will have the same fields available. More information on this feature is covered in the Connections section.
Add/Edit a filter
You can filter the contents of one panel based in the currently selected row in one or more other panels. This makes it possible to include relatively large numbers of records in one data group and make it more manageable for the user to select down the visible content by clicking in other panels.
There are two parts to specifying a filter for a panel:
First from the list of all other panels, check the ones which affect the current panel. So if your current panel is, say Tasks, check the Team and Task Type panels to filter the Tasks whenever a Team or Task Type is selecting in their respective panels.
Next enter or build the filter. This is a JavaScript function that when evaluated for each row in the current panel, returns true or false to indicate whether that row is to be shown or hidden (filtered). You do not need to create a JavaScript function as a builder is provided. Click on build to open a dialog where you can enter/build a series of one or more conditions to be tested. Again, each condition when evaluated against the current panel’s row will return true/false. Use the builder to create a condition based on panels and fields.
In the condition builder there is an option labelled “Include if first panel not selected”. Check this to indicate that if no row is currently selected in the first panel in the condition. This means that until a row is elected in the panel specified the condition will play no part in filtering. This is the case when the presentation is first displayed so if you want all rows to be shown when first displayed, check this box for all conditions.
Text shown when no data found
Specify the text to be displayed to the user in the panel, if no records/data retrieved. This is not an error message; its purpose is to reassure the user that, legitimately, there is no data at this time, ie if there are no orders against a particular customer.
Refresh data automatically
Enter the number of minutes required as the interval between the data refreshing/updating automatically. Leave blank to prevent auto-refresh. This will refresh the panel’s DSD, and all other panels associated with the same DSD.
