Sorting

Certain groups allow for re-ordering of the data based on rules you can set. This is not applicable for SQL (which can be sorted in the query), pivot (which is effectively one row), filter or group (which are ordered by their base data group) types.

Click on the Sort section on the data group page. A list of sort fields is displayed, in the order in which they will be applied. Click on each to edit it, or click Add Sort in the Data Group ribbon to add a new item.

The name identifies the sort field. Sorting can be ascending or descending.

Sorting can be done numerically. For example in sorting a text field the natural order is that 19 would come before 2. Sorting numerically would therefore order the data with 2 coming before 19.

The sequence in which sort items are applied is obviously important. Click on the Sort button under the list of items to open a page where you can drag and drop the items up and down to re-order them.
