An instance is a separate set of configuration settings that can be invoked when calling fSeries products. For example it may be as simple as having an alternative name for the system, or something as detailed as an alternative setup for a data source to point at two different databases.

To set up an instance, give it an id and name, with additional notes to describe the instance further if required.

The instance can be used immediately to manage its settings. However, until you check the Available option it will not be offered to designers when selecting an instance. You can also make instances available from the “Options” group of main settings.

I f you select the default instance from this page you will be able to give the default instance a name and notes. You can also do this from the “Options” group of main settings.
