fAdmin Tools

A number of tools are provided for the maintenance of the system:

Rebuild Indexes

From 3.6

Indexes are normally maintained by the system automatically.
These options may be used if, for example, a DSD or template has been added, changed or deleted manually, outside of the system.
Select the indexes you wish to rebuild and click the Rebuild button to start:

  • The DSD Index is a list of all DSDs that have been set up, providing quick access to their details by the system.
  • Template indexes allow fDocs extensions to access available templates more easily, based on their settings.
  • The Presentation Index is a list of all fPanels Presentations that have been set up, providing quick access to their details by the system.

Rebuild DSD Index

Removed from 3.6

The DSD Index is a list of all DSDs that have been set up, providing quick access to their details by the system.
The index is normally maintained by the system automatically.

This option may be used if, for example, a DSD has been added, changed or deleted manually, outside of the system.

Rebuild Template Indexes

Removed from 3.6

Template indexes allow fDocs extensions to access available templates more easily, based on their settings.
Indexes are normally maintained by the system automatically.

This option may be used if, for example, published templates have been moved or deleted manually.

Clear Previews

This option only applies if your fDocs uses Microsoft Word on the server to convert documents to different formats. See setting fDocsConverter.

When fDocs Designer users preview their templates a temporary file is uploaded to the server into a temporary folder.
fDocs Designer should automatically clear these files when closed down, but this option is provided in case they are not.
This option clears ALL folders and files in the Preview Path.

This may affect anybody actually previewing at the moment when you run the process.

The page will show how many files and folders will be cleared.

Password Encryption

If you are using fSeries users and/or admins security (either with the fSeries database or the Admins xml file) you may choose to encrypt the passwords where they are held in order to make them more secure.

The options provide allow you to encrypt and decrypt password as appropriate.

You should ensure that your security DSD(s) are compatible with this option so that passwords are decrypted as appropriate when authenticating users.
