sql Data Group Type

A sql data group gathers data from a database using a SQL query.

The database connection is selected from a list of “connection” type sources registered in fAdmin.

The query is entered directly for the data group, using placeholders to insert values from user entries or other data groups (e.g. into WHERE clause conditions).

A test button executes the query and opens fTest in order for you to see how the data group has worked and any errors.

SQL Library

An alternative to entering frequently used queries directly into each data group in this way is to use the SQL Library data group type.

Queries are added to a separate library of queries for each available source. The DSD designer may then select a query from the library without having to enter the query directly. When changes are made to a query in the SQL library the change is applied universally wherever the query has been used.
